Cross Country Riding in Thredbo Village
You can take a guided tour around the village, along the Pipeline and Bridle Loops, through the village, up through Crackenback Ridge and back around the golf course. Your guide will point out places of interest and show you where the local habitat hide out. This tour is suited to those that haven’t been on a bike for a while and don’t wish to tackle anything too extreme. We cater for beginners and intermediate, right through to advanced riders. View the ability guide to help you figure out which trail tour is best for you! Feel free to hire a bike and explore the village at your own pace if that’s what you would like to do. We can point you in the right direction.
There is another cross country loop in Thredbo that is designed to test your fitness. It takes in the Pipeline Path & Bridle Trail, then heads up the Friday Flat fire trail, across the top of the bobsled and over to the lower part of the downhill trail at the Tower Ten switchbacks. From there you head down the Meadows single track and back around the golf course. This track has a bit of everything including technical sections, hills & stairs. You will know you are riding in the mountains by the time you have finished this trail.
Cascade Hut Trail
The Cascade Hut Trail is a 22km return trip. You ride up the Alpine Way form Thredbo to Dead Horse Gap. From there you leave the Alpine Way at the Bob's Ridge Walking track & travel through the Pilot Wilderness. It is a moderately difficult ride up to Bobs Ridge where you can see the Victorian Alps, then a fun descent to Cascade Hut. Keep an eye out for the locals, the brumbies. For a challenging long day or overnight ride, continue on past Tin Mine Hut to the Nine Mile Trail. This very steep section will take you to the Pinch campgroud on the Barry Way. As this ride is not a loop you will need to organise a car at the other end.
